The community was first settled in 1849, and by 1852, 20 families lived in the community. The city was initially given the name Draperville after William Draper, who was the first elder of the local Mormon congregations. The name was later shortened to its current one.Today, roughly half of all households had children living in them, with the average family size being 3.69.
