Murray School District is the primary educational district for the city. It consists of one high school, two junior highs, and seven elementary schools. This city is highly educated with 30 percent of the adult population holding a college degree and 92 percent a high school diploma.

These include Willow Condominiums, Village Gardens, Applegate Condo, Riverview Acres, Clayton, Atwood Addition, Woodridge, Aspen Heights, Murray Oakes, Clover Crest Number 3, Murray Burton Acres, Apple Blossom Estate, Amherst Park, Woodstock Village, Cahoon Haynes Addition, Woodstock, Atwood, Country Garden Estates, Western Park, Holly Heights, Akron, and White Terrace.

These neighboring communities consist of 18,646 living units. The median home value is $265,565 and the median rental price is $1,219. About 53 percent of these living units are single family homes. About 25 percent of them are high-rise apartment complexes, with a slight 9 percent being small apartment buildings. There are an estimated 2.58 persons per each household. As of 2015, the vacancy rate for the city is 3.83 percent.

About 30 percent of these living units are comprised of 2 bedrooms. Just under 27 percent have 3 bedrooms. Just over 20 percent have 4 bedrooms. Lastly, about 13 percent have 5 or more bedrooms. Most of the homes were built between 1970 and 1999, with a smaller percentage build between 1940 and 1969. There is only about 8 percent of homes that were built in 2000 or more recent years.

While the median home value is estimated at $265,565, the home ranges are spread widely. About 40 percent of all homes are valued between $234,001 to $350,000. Just under 30 percent are valued between $117,001 to $234,000. 13 percent of the homes are between $350,001 and $467,000. About 8 percent of them are valued between $0 and $117,000. The remaining are valued at $467,001 and higher.
